To Apply Or To Not Apply?

Hi Samara,
I really want to apply for an iC rank but I’m a little scared. What if my application gets rejected? I just don’t know what to do at this point. Do you think you can give me some advice?

When you first started working at Kingdom of Habbo, you were probably a dabbler. Maybe you hit up a team meeting one day, a General Meeting the next. Now that few days have already passed, and you are blissfully enjoying newbie-no-more status, you have probably figured out what you’re really into and where you feel you most belong.
So you are setting your sights on something big: Team Lead. iC Ranks. iL Members. And what does that mean? It’s time to strategize. If you are passionate about the new iC ranks, then get involved. Go to general forums and start filling the respective application. Members commonly want to know what part of the application “carries the most weight”. The truth is, there are several parts to your application, and together they help to discover and appreciate your particular mix qualities.
Every applicant brings something unique to the table. Perhaps one application stands out because of sparkling answers, while another presents outstanding talent; maybe your personality shines through powerful written voice, or your keen mind packs more punch. You may find your answers unsatisfying, but make sure it’s true, because there are ways in which it can be cross checked.
There are very slim chances of your application getting rejected. Trust yourself and you will shine with flying colours. I understand that the process can be confusing, daunting, even overwhelming, and I hope this article of mine proves helpful as you write your application. Just focus on few things while filling out the application.
Do not neglect the policies and expectation of the rank before applying.
Submitting a lengthy application can be a pain at times
Do give your answers a proof read before hitting submit
Try to fill it before the deadline. Do not wait until last minute
Each par should be telling something new. Do not repeat yourself
Focus on the rough edges. Tell something original and not cliché things
Read on for my best tips on campaigning, winning, and moving on if you don’t. But let’s focus on the winning for now, shall we? Here’s how:
Aim high – but aim strategically. The most covered spots are always going to be at top of the food chain. But remember: iC ranks need helping hands too, like Warlord, Wizard, Trades, etc. That does not mean today you shouldn’t go for the gold, just that you shouldn’t consider all the opportunities before you let tunnel vision get the best of you. So, if you’re not so comfortable right now, maybe save your iC rank run until next session, you won’t be edged out by people who have already paid their dues.
Get to know your constituents. Ever wonder why politicians are always shaking hands? What looks like sweet talking is actually a calculated attempt to meet real voters, and you could learn a thing or two from the pros. Make an effort to talk to people. Don’t skip the ones who campaigned the last time. For masses, get a catchy motto or badge. If you never met or spoken with some of them before, they’ll get to know the kind of things you care about.
Fight fair. When you throw your hat into a ring, find out if there are any official election rules, and then, for the love of the KoH Gods, stick to them. You do not want to invest so much time and energy to be disqualified for something silly. While you are at it, be respectful to anyone running for the same rank as you. You may be tempted to trash-talk a candidate who you don’t think has motives as honest as your own, but DON’T DO IT. It’s disrespectful, for one thing, and it could backfire and members not taking you seriously.
Build your #brand. Once you’ve thought long and hard about what makes you the best candidate for the job, you’ll want to find a way to make sure voters know you’re right choice. Consider catchy slogan that summarises this point, and you’ll definitely need some swag: badges, colour coordinated outfit, maybe even accessories. If you don’t have a flair for all this, ask a friend to lend a hand.
**And in case you lose…**
If all goes well, you’ll have some celebrating to do after the big day is over. But there’s always the possibility that you’ll try your hardest and it just won’t work out. It’s a downer, but it happens to everyone. Be proud of what you did accomplish – you set a goal and went for it! And remember this: Being the leader of a team is awesome, but the only person who really defines your role is you, and you don’t have to have a rank to make an impact.
Good Luck in filling those applications! x
