What Lies Beyond The Kingdom Gates?

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond our Kingdom? What someone may be able to discover if those gates were finally opened? Whilst working a young Ida would ask herself these very questions. One day this curiosity overtook her and she asked a fellow member as to why the grand gates were always closed.

“The outside area is dangerous, we are always warned not to wander beyond the gate and I suggest you do as we are told.” the member replied.

Months passed and Ida hadn’t thought about the gate and what lied further in quite some time. Night fell and as Ida slept she dreamt about a wonderful clearing in the trees, a pond surrounded by the different wildlife. A faint singing could be heard, a familiar melody that she couldn’t quite identify. Ida felt surrounded by tranquillity and felt that she never wanted to leave the forest, despite this she awoke.

Whilst working away the next day she devised a plan to wait until everyone went home then she would crack open the gate and slip out untraced. Minutes felt like hours and her anticipation to find this area of bliss was increasing rapidly. The warm bronze sunlight was swallowed by the horizon and Ida filled her satchel with a camera and some snacks for her trip. The stars were high in the sky, Ida slipped out and ran across the bridge towards the dark forest.

Ida disliked the dark, she hated the way it called forward the creatures of the night. She felt unsafe and just when she thought about turning back she heard this distant melody once again. This tune reinforced her desire to find this area and she kept going.

After hours of wondering and following the faint humming, Ida saw the clearing and ran towards it with all the energy that she had left. She found an old man, it reminded her of some old legend. The odd man had a long, white, and drawn out beard and above his head loomed a curse of some kind. Ida was intrigued as to what this man had been through and what his tale was, she had never encountered anyone outside the kingdom. Ida approached the man hesitantly and sat by the pond.

“What is your name and where have you come from young dear, it’s awfully early” croaked the man.

“My name is Ida and I’ve been journeying through the night from the Kingdom of Habbo, I have dreamt about this place and needed to see it myself.” Replied Ida.

“This place is beautiful but not worth the cost of danger that you have put yourself in. The forest is an unforgiving place and is filled with sin and creatures wouldn’t want to encounter. The Kingdom will offer you protection, I used to be a resident there but gave it up for mystery. Not a day goes by that I don’t regret it, I wish that I could go back…” said the stranger.

“Why don’t you? You could return with me and have a new start. I just want to capture this experience on my camera so I can have it forever and then we can be on our way.” said Ida.

Ida placed the camera back in her bag and walked back towards the Kingdom. The stranger told her tales of what had happened to him in the forest and how long he had been wishing for a fresh start. By sunrise they had both arrived at the Kingdom ready to have a brand new start within the grand gate.
