What Shall I Wear Today?

Have you ever opened the “clothes” tab and be like you literally have no attires at all? Do you feel there are too many colours to choose from? Are you helpless on what goes right with what? Yes? Then I guess you won’t find this article completely absurd.

The feeling is familiar one: You open the tab clothes and with making the eyes bigger declare “I have nothing to wear.” What a joke. Because all of us have a signature outfit, event outfit, every day outfit and theme day outfit. Be it real life or pixel life, what do we put on has always been the daily struggle. The cloth crisis is real.

I share the theme days first and foremost, simply as a way of sharing a little fun with the KoH family. I, for one, enjoy knowing that this is crazy, stressed out, hyperactive, dog-eat-dingo world that someone, somewhere out there has created or is celebrating a theme day “Pizza Topping Day”, “Big Hair Day”, “City or Country Day”, and so on. Unless you are humorously challenged, I’m sure how a person couldn’t smile at the thought of some of those days. Events Team (ET) organises several theme days each week. It’s really fun to see how much creativity each one of you bring to the base. You should keep your eyes on the calendar or listen to IA announcements to prepare yourself for the upcoming theme days.

My favourite theme till today has been Twins Day. While options for Twin Day are plentiful, one idea that has remained constant over the years is simply to dress identically. With the hashtag #twinning being so popular these days, we at KoH made it even more popular. It is very self-explanatory. You have to dress similar as your bestie or anyone you choose. It was really fun. So when the twinning theme was announced we came up with the idea to try and make as many twinning coordinates as possible! I decided not to change my outfit and forced my friend to change and match with me instead. There were no funky costumes or outrageous ideas required in that. I didn’t win the theme day, but it was really a fun concept.

More the options, more is the confusion. My idea of picking an outfit is really simple.

Step 1: Google the relevant theme

Step 2: Look up which one is weirdly easy

Step 3: Copy that idea in the worst way possible

And you are good to go. I haven’t actually ever won any theme day (LOL!). Blame it on my lack of fashion sense or the laziness in me. Hence, my little advice to you people is not to follow this method.

Theme days are really an offbeat days to make the base more lively and happening. Remember, fun ideas like this can create a more positive base, but perhaps even more importantly, they REFLECT a positive base and they reflect the notion you guys are enjoying yourselves at work. The best part is, TKC team shoots a fun photo of the participants and post it on the website as a way to add a little fun to the fun.

It’s not always a choice for fun OR work, but a choice for fun AND work.

With a little creativity and a little humour, ANY theme day can be put to work to help breathe some life into our base or to help us stand out from the herd to be heard.
