There has been a lot going on in the kingdom this last week! There were lots of changes in the iL ranks, and you can be looking for more people to be promoted soon, so keep up the great work. We were also joined this last week or so by a ton of new members, we want to welcome all the new transfers; and those who were also travelers, we are glad you came to KoH and look forward to getting to know you in these up coming weeks. We also had a few fun theme days where we dressed up as fears as well as things found under the sea!
My task for this week was to talk to members about hardships and struggles in the Kingdom. I interviewed a range of members to get views from different ranks, and throughout the article I will be giving you answers from them all. Let’s meet my interviewees, I will also be assigning them each a color so it is easier to follow:
Bannaroo (also known as Banna)~ she is a Mason in the Trades Worker division, she joined the Kingdom on August 10th but has been very active lately and always trying to reach her goals in the Kingdom and is often seen working hard.
Sergants (also known as Kenneth)~ he is a summoner of Darkness in the Wizard division, he has been in the Kingdom since June 6th, however he took a little break and when he returned he bought Ranks, and has been very active.
Sharlettexo (also known as Stella)~ she is a Bodyguard in the Kingdom Vigilante division, she joined the kingdom June 11th and has been active since, she was an iL for a few weeks and recently stepped down into ranks.
Nyra. (also known as Phoebe)~ she is a Humble Master in the Kingdom Master division, she just joined the kingdom on September 10th, she is a new transfer coming from neXus and is often seen working hard in base since she joined.
Maheenk (also known as Maheen)~ she is a Kingdom Ambassador, when she was in the kingdom she was active she was 3iL and she joined March 14th, she is now active whenever she is able but has been busy with school.
Reilln95 (also known as Rei)~ she is a Bedivere in the 3iL division, she joined January 4th, and is often seeing working at all hours lately she has been busy with school and had to take a LoA but still gets on when she can.
Now that we have meet our interviewees, let’s look at their thoughts on struggles in KoH, the first question I asked them was “What is the hardest thing in KoH for you?”
Banna mentioned more the side of stations and said “Um….probably remembering which buttons do what [in security] I forget what the blue button means for like a really stressful second. Also pay day, the pay badge thing for me is a struggle” The others talked more on the people side of KoH but all had different perspectives. Kenneth mentioned “The Hardest thing would probably be trying to get involved with KoH a bit more and fit in” Rei also talked some on fitting in and knowing where she belongs as an iL but also a member "The hardest thing for me is being a great leader and friends at the same time.” Stella talked about “The hardest thing for me is too see all the LR's growing up to become leaders, some are better than me i can admit” Maheen reflected on how relationships with others affected her “The hardest thing in KoH for me is seeing members go after becoming great friends with them. KoH is an easy place to know about, but the friendships made here at KoH makes it so hard to say the dreaded words 'Goodbye'.” Whereas others don’t find much to be hard in KoH, Phoebe said “I think it took some time adjusting to KoH. But the way things are taught, it's pretty understandable. If there were any difficulties, it didn’t take long to adjust to. I actually like the vibes going on in KoH :)”
The next question I asked these members was “What don’t you like about KoH?” There was a mix of responses, most of them had something though, let’s take a look.
Kenneth, who was active as a LR before our rank changes, thought back to that time and said “I don't like how there aren't any races [now] like last base which creates friendly competition, or Online training which provides convenience.” Our new transfer Phoebe also mentioned training “At first, I wasn't used to the open training room. Sometimes, I would be training and my chat bubbles would disappear so then I would have to repeat myself.” Training seemed to be something that these members didn’t like as Banna also commented on it “probably the training thing how the messages are mixed with everything else.” Though, the other 3 interviewees mentioned different things: Rei also thought some on the old base and replied with “I like everything about KoH except the VIP area cause it's way up high and kinda hard to find and focused on if there’s a guest talking up there.” Stella gave me a point that I hadn’t thought of much because it has been a while since I wasn’t an iL but after her experience she said “I don't like how iLs kinda receive over 50% of what KoH has to offer. All members should have access to all the great stuff!” she also thought on base and said “Also, I don't like the excess space in base, it could be used for something else if you ask me.” And then there is also the other side of people who think KoH is great just how it is, Maheen said “I actually LOVE everything about KoH!!! KoH is my happy place :3.” And she is right if it didn’t make us happy we wouldn’t stick around.
Based off of what these members said about things they didn’t like I decided to ask them “What would you change in KoH to make things easier for yourself and other members?” About half the answers were the same, but you as a reader what would you change? Now let’s see what these guys said:
Maheen mentioned something that she thought could be changed, but also added why it might not work, “To make things easier for myself and others, I'd just add in tests after being allowed to work each division to ensure that the member knows how to work each station. We could have a FTT Course, a FTS Course, a FTWS Course, a RO Course, and a FTHD Course. While we will need more people to check these, it will make members more informed about our stations.” Stella mentioned something a little on the same lines but a little different, and something that may be more possible “I would add RO meetings, or Trades/Caster Worker meetings to like make sure everyone understands what to do” in their assigned stations. Speaking of stations we had people mention things they would change in stations. Let’s start by looking at what Rei said, after thinking back to the old base design, “For FTB, I hope we can put a special command like before cause it's easier for everyone if ever they miss-click the sofas.” She also had another comment about stations, the station a lot of members that I interviewed mentioned, “For FTT, I think this have been discuss as to put the training in the different room so it won't be bother by the trolls.” Let’s look at what others have to say about training: there were many options suggested, “Add Online Training back for convenience.” “I would move the training area to the corner, like a tent or something so you can't see the messages.” Or another suggestion is “I'm not keen on changing where the training station is located, but it would be nice if it was in a separate room where things don't get flooded easily.” Which do you think would be a good change to help KoH out?
There was two other questions that I asked these members but most of their answers were similar. The first question was “Is there anything in KoH that confuses you?” Most of these members said that nothing confused them, however Rei mentioned “A lot of things confused me especially rank system at first, but as the time passed, I learned how to adapt.”
The other question was “If you don’t understand something, are you likely to ask for help?” All of these members said 'yes', they will go to get help, I won’t give you all the quotes, but here are a few good points some of them had. “If I don't ASK, I won't get it [an answer]. It'll leave me confused and more likely to make mistakes, and nobody wants that!” “I'm not afraid to ask for assistance as I do want to improve my skills as a member.” “I learn from asking questions and hearing the answers.” And the last quote is from Phoebe “Many people in KoH give the vibes that they are keen to help and it is very nice :)” Based on what these guys said, don’t be afraid to ask your questions, it will help you out and you can learn from them, plus people in KoH want to help.
Even if there are difficulties and hard times in KoH, it is always worth it! Like it was said earlier, we all love KoH, otherwise we wouldn’t be here. Rather, if you are a new member just joining us, or if you have been around for months, we are glad to have you in KoH and we value all your hard work. Sometimes people just don’t know how to express how thankful we are. But I can speak from a 2iL I appreciate every worker and love to see your dedication and each member grows in their time in KoH. Love you all.
