The Kingdom was quiet, every member was weary of the recent disappearances. It was true, for weeks now members have vanished one by one. Leaving no trace, no room for investigation. The Queen was getting suspicious, outside the knowledge of the Kingdom, she called a meeting with the Founders.

They sought to solve this problem immediately, and find out what could be leading loyal members away. So they called upon the help of a legendary werewolf, the best tracker in the Kingdom.

The werewolf found no evidence of the people who had disappeared, except one thing. A red and gold ribbon, left on the desks and shelves around the Kingdom, in the spots that members had been last seen.

The werewolf interviewed remaining members, though there were only a few of them left. All answered the same, ‘It’s a surprise.’

The Queen was becoming more and more worried, as her birthday drew near, she was heartbroken that all of her most honoured Royal Officials and in Lines, would not be there for her special day.

The night of her birthday, the Queen sat alone at the abandoned FTF, no one was left. Even the founders had strayed. Her favourite day of the year had been ruined.

The heir to the throne entered through the Kingdom gates, seeing the Queen alone and distressed. She took her hand and led her out of the Kingdom.

Just beyond the gates the Queen could taste the aroma of candyfloss and cupcakes. She could hear hushed giggles and small voices. And just as they emerged, her eyes were graced with the sight of every member of the Kingdom, wearing colourful party hats and blowing on party poppers. All howling in harmony.

“SURPRISE!”

The disappearances finally made sense to her, this day had been planned for weeks, how could she not have figured it out?

The Vampires laughed and shared stories in the shelter of the trees. The Fairies fluttered around showering the other guests in red and gold ribbons. The Werewolves chased each other’s tails, howling together as they danced to the music which the Elves played on their instruments. The mermaids beat at a dolphin piñata which exploded into red and gold confetti. The Humans served the food, eager to get the Queen to taste their pies and baked goods.

The Queen was overwhelmed with happiness, for this Celebration truly was, fit for Royalty.
