Today in KoH

It was another day done of KoH. People were packing up, finishing tasks at the last minute, and some stayed to do more work. A human named Rick decided to take the night shift to fulfill his duties as a member of the online services team. Watching everyone leave, he took out his laptop and went to the KoH General Forums.

People make mistakes. Always. If you look at any account, it’s likely they’ll have at LEAST one warning point. People get warnings for messing things up, and it is people like Rick’s job to fix them. What do warnings do? Nothing, it’s just there to tell you that you got something wrong. Nevertheless, people still get mad when given a warning. Ricky was a superstar forum mod, he always found a mistake, big or small, and ended up giving heaps of warnings daily.

Rick wasn’t the most popular in KoH after becoming a superstar forum mod. His trusty laptop in one hand, his coffee mug in the other, he went to work. He could hear the hushed, angry whispers coming from behind him as he walked. Nobody noticed that maybe warnings are a good thing, well, except for Rick. Even the other forum mods were ashamed of their job at the time.

One day, Rick thought, One day they will thank me.

Maybe that day would be soon enough.

It was another morning of KoH, everyone present. People were happy, until they saw their forum account profile. Most had gotten a warning. Nobody was pleased to see this. Grumbling and whispering to each other, the work day began.

It was a wake up call to Rick. Maybe forum mod wasn’t the best position to be in. Maybe he should stop it for the time being. Rick went on a leave of absence to have everyone cool down.

That day, someone messed up the ID numbers and skipped 10 numbers. This would have gotten fixed, but there was nobody to notice it. There was nobody who could help and edit the IDs besides the owners of the ID posts, but most of them went home. Wrong ranks were put into promotion logs resulting in people skipping ranks and whole divisions and going down whole divisions or ranks. But there was nobody to fix it.

The kingdom was lost without forum mods. IDs were skipped and repeated, wrong ranks were given, tags being used by several members were given, some parts of logs were left blank. Rick came back from LoA to start off on a fresh slate. Never in the whole universe had he expected the havoc he saw before him.

Everyone was sorry. Sorry for taking the mods for granted. Without the mods, the kingdom wouldn’t prosper with accuracy and professionalism. The people who had grumbled now asked him to do what they hated. They wanted forum mods again. Rick smiled.

His plan had worked.
